Court Approves Narrowed Denuvo Subpoenas to Discord, Valve and Reddit in 'voices38' Case
A California federal court allowed Denuvo to serve subpoenas on Discord, Valve and Reddit to identify the cracker known as 'voices38' in its DMCA anti-circumvention lawsuit. After the judge flagged privacy concerns, Denuvo cut its requests from 46 to nine, seeking only names, ID documents, emails, IP addresses, phone numbers and physical addresses. The platforms must produce the data by November 3.
- Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. called the original 46 requests excessive and a privacy risk
- Denuvo narrowed the subpoenas to nine: Discord, Reddit and seven Steam profiles
- Payment data, transaction histories, login logs and posts were dropped from the requests
- Platforms must provide the information by November 3
