Dynamic Island on iPhone 18 Pro and foldable Duo: how it works

Apple has shrunk the Dynamic Island cutout on the iPhone 18 Pro by moving the Face ID infrared camera under the display, and now supports up to three simultaneous Live Activities instead of two. On the foldable iPhone Duo, each display has its own front camera and the island appears only when a Live Activity is running.

• iPhone 18 Pro's Dynamic Island cutout is smaller thanks to an under-display Face ID IR camera
• Up to three Live Activities can run at once, up from two
• On the iPhone Duo the island appears on the outer display only during a Live Activity
• Duo controls shift to the side to free up vertical space
