Llama, Claude and Gemini beat OpenAI on API uptime over 30 days

Probes by llmlatency.dev from 18 September to 17 October 2026 put Meta Llama API at 99.986% availability, Anthropic at 99.985%, OpenRouter at 99.985% and Google Gemini at 99.983%, while OpenAI ranked 18th at 99.930%. The study covered 46 AI APIs from four regions with 1.58 million probes.

• Anthropic and OpenAI differ by 0.055 points, roughly 24 minutes a month
• Tokyo was the worst region for 24 providers, São Paulo for 17
• 51 attributed outages hit 15 providers; Doubao, Yi and SambaNova account for over half
• 24 of 46 APIs stayed at or above 99.9%, with a median of 99.90%
