Developer ports a 3DS emulator to the browser in two days with AI help
A developer built an experimental Panda3DS-based emulator that translates guest ARM code to WebAssembly and runs in the browser without a JIT entitlement. Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 hit 60 fps in Chrome on an Apple Silicon Mac, while a heavy scene on iPhone runs at only 16–22 fps.
- Guest ARM goes through Dynarmic IR, then WebAssembly, then browser-compiled machine code
- Games run at 60 fps in Chrome on an Apple Silicon Mac with sound and controls
- On iPhone, light scenes reach 55–63 fps but the heavy World 1-1 scene drops to 16–22 fps
- Packing 256 blocks into one WASM instance lifted Safari performance from 19 to 44 Hz
