Gamma delta T cells offer new way to attack small cell lung cancer
Researchers at Australia's WEHI found that gamma delta T cells can detect and kill small cell lung cancer, which normally hides from the immune system. Existing drugs tarlatamab and zoledronate boosted this response in lab models.
- Five-year survival for small cell lung cancer is under 7%
- Gamma delta T cells were found in samples from all 12 patients
- Tarlatamab and zoledronate boosted cancer cell killing in cultures
- The study was published in Cancer Cell
