Singtel: quantum security is a network migration, not a future risk
Singtel VP Kenneth Hwang said preparing for quantum threats takes years of work across infrastructure, software, vendors, regulators and customers. The operator is combining quantum key distribution (QKD) with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) rather than picking one technology.
- Telecom infrastructure lasts 10+ years while quantum-safe migration takes years
- Singtel pairs QKD for fiber links with PQC for cloud and endpoints
- The operator is part of Singapore's National Quantum Safe Network NQSN+
- Work involves IMDA, Ericsson, vendors and research institutions
