Octopus Energy launches £500 Cosy cooler add-on that turns heat pumps into air conditioning

Octopus Energy has unveiled the Cosy cooler, an add-on that turns its Cosy heat pump system into air conditioning. The 72cm-tall unit connects to existing radiator pipework, cools water and indoor air, and takes about three hours to install. It is expected to sell for £500–600 per unit, with trials underway in UK homes and sales planned for next summer.

• Priced at £500–600 versus £2,000+ for a full air-con system
• Trials are running in UK homes and offices, with sales planned for next summer
