Mistral AI announced Mistral Large 4 (Le Chonk), a multimodal model with 1 trillion parameters and 52 billion active. It scores 42% on the Dense200 visual grounding benchmark, ahead of GPT-6 Astra at 41%. A public preview is live in Mistral Studio, with open weights promised by the end of October 2026.
