Data center fires and power failures have doubled since 2024

Data from the Energy Incident Register shows fires and power failures at data centers rose from eight in 2024 to 20 in 2025 and 19 in 2026. Of 93 incidents tracked across 26 countries since 2010, 47 occurred in 2024 or later, with UPS and battery rooms the most common failure point.
