GitHub Copilot launches HydraFusion: workflow plans instead of model picking
GitHub introduced Project HydraFusion, a research preview where Copilot builds an execution plan per prompt: a single model, a draft-then-escalate cascade, or a draft reviewed by a critic from another model family. GitHub claims up to 67% lower cost than Claude Opus 5 with higher verified quality on TerminalBench 2.1. It is available in Copilot CLI since 4 September and in VS Code 1.140 since 30 September for Pro, Pro+, Business and Enterprise.
