Europe to develop satellite backup for submarine cable networks
A consortium led by Nexat, with €1.5 million in ESA funding, is building CableShield, a system that automatically switches traffic to satellite when an undersea cable fails. The project starts with an 18-month development program, with commercial launch expected alongside Telesat's Lightspeed constellation.
