New NVIDIA RTX 4090 Fakes Look Almost As Good As The Real Thing

GPU repair specialist Vik-Off showed fake RTX 4090 cards sold as "repair projects" for 30,000 rubles. The counterfeits use BGA-soldered cores, but carry GDDR6 instead of GDDR6X and have no functional silicon.

• Fake card sold for 30,000 rubles versus ~280,000 for a working unit
• GPU core is BGA-soldered, but the contact area shows no working die
• GDDR6 modules installed instead of GDDR6X
• Fakes likely originate from a factory in China
