Oxford physicists observe Aharonov–Bohm effect on a hybrid quantum computer
Physicists at the University of Oxford used a hybrid quantum computer built from qubits and quantum oscillators to observe the Aharonov–Bohm effect in a quantum simulation. The effect is a quantum phenomenon in which a particle acquires a measurable phase by traveling around a magnetic flux without ever passing through a region where a magnetic field is present.
- A hybrid quantum computer of qubits and quantum oscillators was used
- The Aharonov–Bohm effect was observed in a quantum simulation
- A particle gains phase by circling magnetic flux without entering the field
