CRISPR-edited banana clears first UK precision-breeding hurdle
Norwich-based Tropic Biosciences' CRISPR-edited banana has been confirmed by Defra as "precision bred" under the Precision Breeding Act 2023. The fruit still needs an FSA food-safety review before UK retail sales. Tropic claims 30% less browning within 24 hours and approvals in 11 countries.
