Apple TV 4K gets Hi-Res Lossless in tvOS 27, but only on newer model

The tvOS 27 update, released Sept. 14, raised Apple Music playback on Apple TV 4K from 24-bit/48kHz to 24-bit/192kHz. Hi-Res Lossless works only on the third-generation Apple TV 4K (2022) and later; the 2021 model on the A12 Bionic chip gets the update but not the feature.

• Playback ceiling raised from 24-bit/48kHz to 24-bit/192kHz
• Hi-Res Lossless requires Apple TV 4K 3rd gen or later
• Apple recommends connecting the box to an AV receiver, not a TV
• Many TVs resample audio to 48kHz, negating the upgrade
