8,547 wind and solar park systems found exposed online across Europe

Modat and NCSC-NL found 8,547 internet-facing systems at wind farms and solar parks in 35 countries in and around the EU. They include control panels with a Stop button and web servers of Siemens industrial controllers; Spain, Greece, Italy and Germany hold 76% of the solar systems.

• 8,547 systems across 35 countries: 7,942 solar and 605 wind
• Spain alone accounts for 2,766 systems, 35% of solar total
• One turbine dashboard exposed Start, Stop and Reset buttons
