CAIR Unveils CARES 4.0 Multimodal Clinical AI Agent
The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at the Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has unveiled CARES 4.0, a multimodal clinical AI agent system. Unlike versions 1.0–3.0 that answered questions, 4.0 performs tasks such as assembling reports and running statistical analyses. It offers suggestions with reasoning paths and sources, leaving final decisions to doctors.
- CARES 4.0 is built on the Harness agent framework and CAIR's own models for CT, MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy and EEG
- Validated at top-tier hospitals in three areas: diagnostic workflow, department operations queries and specialty data analysis
- Ultrasound and surgical-video models will join the platform free of charge
- CAIR's systems are used at more than 30 hospitals, including 10+ for ultrasound and 4+ for bronchoscopy
