Samsung P9 and P7 portable SSDs get USB4 and up to 4,000MB/s speeds
Samsung announced its next-generation P9 and P7 portable SSDs with USB4 connectivity (up to 40Gbps), reaching sequential reads of up to 4,000MB/s and writes of 3,800MB/s. The P9 is the first 8TB USB4 portable SSD with 12K Direct Recording support, while the P7 survives 2m drops. Both come in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB; the P9 is sold only via the Samsung Online Store, the P7 goes on sale 10 October.
