Semiconductor sales top $1trn for the first time in eight months

SIA reported August 2026 chip sales of $159.7bn, up 8% from July and 144.3% from $65.4bn a year earlier. Year-to-date global semiconductor sales have surpassed $1trn for the first time, with 2026 projected to exceed $1.6trn.
