Spotify removes podcasts over book quotes, ignoring fair use

Spotify's automated review tools are removing podcast episodes that contain brief quotes from books, disregarding fair use. The creator of Klickitcast received takedown notices for an episode where a quote took up less than 0.01% of runtime, and after episodes were restored, he deleted his account.

• Spotify removed a Klickitcast episode over a 30–45 second quote from a Beverly Cleary book
• The quote made up about 0.008% of the hour-long episode
• Spotify restored the episodes after an appeal, but the creator deleted his account
• The creator dropped a song from a new podcast over takedown risk
