Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering Teams Are Unionizing

The teams behind Dungeons & Dragons, D&D Beyond, Magic: The Gathering and Duel Masters are forming a union called United Wizards of the Coast with the Communication Workers of America. They seek layoff protections, better wages, protections against AI, remote work guarantees and ownership of work created outside WotC offices.

• The union covers D&D, D&D Beyond, Magic: The Gathering and Duel Masters teams
• Demands include layoff protections, higher wages, AI safeguards and remote work rights
• Magic: The Gathering Arena developers unionized earlier this year
• The union asks Hasbro to voluntarily recognize it, but WotC leadership is unlikely to agree
