Shield AI's X-BAT: first AI fighter jet with vertical takeoff, no runway needed

Shield AI is developing the X-BAT, the first AI-piloted fighter jet capable of vertical takeoff and landing, removing the need for runways or aircraft carriers. It measures 26 feet long with a 39-foot wingspan, a service ceiling above 50,000 feet, a 1,150-mile combat radius and a GE F110 engine. Production is expected to start in 2029, scaling to 150 units per year by the early 2030s.
