World Bank: India should scale existing AI apps rather than chase frontier models
World Bank senior economist Vincent Belinga urged India to follow a three-stage AI path: adoption, adaptation and selective frontier development. The bank estimates AI could add 0.1–0.8 percentage points to annual labour productivity growth, with 14% of Indian workers in jobs where AI complements their work.
