Zoom CTO XD Huang on opening Scribe API and the 'year of completion'

Zoom has opened the speech recognition behind its My Notes tool to other companies via the Scribe API and is in talks with AI note-taking firms considering switching to it. CTO XD Huang calls 2026 'the year of completion', aiming for AI that finishes meeting work before the meeting ends.

• Scribe has topped Hugging Face's Open ASR Leaderboard of 60+ systems
• Zoom uses a federated approach: OpenAI and Anthropic models plus its own small model
• My Notes works outside Zoom, including Microsoft and Google meetings and in person
