Anti-Nav1.7 Antibodies Silence Nerve Pain for Days Without Blocking Normal Pain
In a preclinical study, humanized antibodies targeting the Nav1.7 sodium channel (Clone1 and S-151128) reduced abnormal pain sensitivity in rats with sciatic nerve injury for up to 96 hours while leaving normal protective pain and motor function intact. S-151128 is already in clinical trials.
- Clone1 showed at least 650-fold selectivity for Nav1.7, S-151128 at least 1300-fold
- Antibody pain relief remained stronger than pregabalin at 96 hours
- In uninjured animals, antibodies did not alter mechanical responses or coordination
- S-151128 is already being tested in human clinical trials
