Horizon OS 2.9 PTC Overhauls Window Management, Brings Back Classic Environments

Meta rolled out Horizon OS 2.9 (v209) to the Public Test Channel for Quest. The update introduces the Display Evo 2D window system, a Window Manager, a QR code scanner, and the return of classic virtual environments Desert Terrace and Space Station.

• Display Evo removes the dock: windows open spatially and can be grouped into a Stack
• Classic environments Desert Terrace and Space Station return via Home Editor
• A system-level QR code scanner arrives on Quest 3 and 3S
• Surface Keyboard and Touchpad get an improved layout
