Newzoo: F2P playtime broadly flat as gacha RPGs drive PC growth
Newzoo's special focus report across 37 markets (excluding China, India and mobile) found F2P's share of playtime fell 2.9 percentage points from 2021 to 2025, to 29.3%, while absolute hours stayed broadly flat. PC F2P playtime grew, driven mainly by gacha RPGs: RPG share of PC F2P playtime rose 5.3 points to 14.3%, and PC gacha hours grew 92%, adding 864 million hours.
