India's UPI expands into Central Asia with Uzbekistan deal

India and Uzbekistan agreed to accept UPI: tourists, businesspeople, and students can pay via Uzbekistan's UZQR QR code through UPI-enabled apps, with funds debited from Indian bank accounts. The agreement was approved by both countries' central banks, involving NIPL and Uzbekistan's NIPC (HUMO system). This is UPI's first expansion into Central Asia.
