240-million-year-old fossil changes dinosaur timeline

An international team led by the University of Bristol described a new dicynodont species, Dinodontosaurus isiyavamanda, from Tanzania dating to about 240 million years ago. It is the first confirmed find of the genus outside South America; it links Tanzanian and South American strata and indicates that Tanzania's supposed oldest dinosaur candidates are younger than thought.
