Black Forest Labs launches Flux 3 Image with JSON bounding boxes and pixel-locked edits
Black Forest Labs released Flux 3 Image on October 1, 2026, completing its multimodal Flux 3 family. The model accepts structured JSON scene layouts and keeps pixels outside selected bounding boxes numerically unchanged, eliminating visual drift across multi-step edits. Open weights are expected within weeks.
- Model takes a JSON element array with IDs, descriptions and coordinates on a 0–1000 grid
- Grid is resolution-independent: same layout works for 768 px and 4K 5456×3072
- Cat removal left 80.7% of pixels identical; hair recolor left 67.8% unchanged
- Supports up to 10 reference images (ref_image_0…ref_image_9) per generation
