Northrop Grumman unveils rice-sized GaN chip FORTITUDE
Northrop Grumman has introduced FORTITUDE, a gallium nitride chip that combines signal switching and filtering in a single device. It delivers three times more power and 20 times better signal quality, operates from kilohertz to 20 GHz, and fits in a package about the size of a grain of rice.
- Chip delivers 3x more power and 20x better signal quality
- Operates across frequencies from kilohertz to 20 GHz
- Superlattice structure carries about 10x the charge of standard GaN
- Targets satellites, radar, GPS, electronic warfare and future 6G
