TDK demonstrates direct retinal projection display for smart glasses

TDK has demonstrated the world's first direct retinal projection (DRP) display for smart glasses using a meta-optic mirror just 150 nm thick with about 80% visible-light transmittance. A prototype will be shown at CEATEC 2026 from October 13 and at electronica on November 10-13, 2026.

• Meta-optic mirror is 150 nm thick and embeds directly into a lens
• About 80% visible-light transmittance matches ordinary eyeglass lenses
• TDK also has an ultra-compact full-color laser module and 4K laser control
