Anthropic secretly consulted clergy on Claude's moral values
Anthropic held NDA-bound meetings with religious and philosophical thinkers from Catholic, Jewish, Sikh, evangelical and Ubuntu traditions to shape Claude's moral values and consciousness policies. The talks were reportedly led by co-founder Christopher Olah, and Claude's constitution, published January 21, 2026, is used directly in training.
