Japanese firms cut China presence 22.4% as trade risks mount

The number of Japanese companies operating in China fell 22.4% over two years, from 13,034 to 10,118 as of the end of June 2026, according to a Teikoku Databank survey released on September 28, 2026. Rising trade risks are cited as a key factor.
