Publishers finally have AI buyers for their content yet zero say in the price

Unsealed documents in The New York Times lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft show both companies understood the value of publishers' content. The AI data market is estimated at about $1 billion, but the money mostly bypasses media via middlemen like Exa, Parallel and Tavily. Bad bot traffic grew 124% in a year, with Meta responsible for 46.3% of all AI bot traffic.
