X Square Robot's TwinDEX robot runs 24-step chemistry experiment with no on-robot training data
Shenzhen-based X Square Robot showed a dexterous robot completing a full standardized chemistry experiment of 24 sub-actions in one uncut take. The policy was trained from scratch on a few hundred robot-free episodes collected via TwinDEX, which pairs a wearable exoskeleton with a matching robotic hand.
- Robot performed 24 sub-actions: opened a reagent bottle, scooped powder, used a pipette and glass rod
- Policy trained only on robot-free data, with no teleoperation or intervention data
- TwinDEX claims 5.3x the collection throughput of on-robot teleoperation
- Limits: single tabletop, limited objects, long-session ergonomics not studied
