California to fine robotaxi operators for blocking first responders
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB 1246, requiring autonomous vehicle operators to provide on-the-ground support for first responders and imposing penalties if a robotaxi blocks police or firefighters for more than 30 minutes. The law takes effect in July 2028.
