RPCS3 Now Runs Physical PS3 Discs on PC, With a Catch

The RPCS3 emulator added support on September 6, 2026 for playing physical PS3 game discs on PC, Linux, FreeBSD and macOS. It requires a compatible Blu-ray drive from a specific list and a legitimate disc with a valid decryption key, which limits piracy concerns.

• PS3 disc support works on PC, Linux, FreeBSD and macOS
• Requires a compatible Blu-ray drive and a legit disc with a key
• Most of the 2500+ PS3 library is unplayable on PS5 without emulation
• Sony will stop producing physical discs starting in 2028
