Heavy hauling goes hybrid: Self-unloading cargo ship cuts emissions

CSL Group built the world's first bulk carrier MV Yampu for Adbri with a Wärtsilä diesel-electric hybrid power system and a 6758 kWh battery. The 11,900-tonne vessel moves 2.7 million tonnes of limestone per year on a 68 km route in South Australia, cutting diesel use by over 500,000 liters annually.
