Tesla starts Semi production as diesel prices surge
Elon Musk announced on September 24, 2026 that Tesla has begun rolling out its electric Semi truck. He said electricity costs far less per mile than diesel, which averages $6.39 per gallon in the US. Logistics firm Forum Mobility reported over 330 Semis reserved at a single California depot, versus roughly 200 trucks currently in service.
