AWS releases Dogwood Local Engine, an open source leash for AI agent tool calls
AWS has published the Dogwood Local Engine (DLE), an open source Rust library that checks AI agent tool calls against user-defined temporal policies and returns allow/deny verdicts. DLE embeds into an agent harness or gateway, uses the Dogwood policy language, and adds roughly 20 microseconds of evaluation latency.
- DLE is a Rust library embeddable in an agent harness or gateway
- Policies are written in Dogwood, open sourced by AWS in August
- Evaluation latency is about 20 microseconds with a 15-minute window
- Example: Git push allowed only if tests passed within the last 15 minutes
