Gears of War: E-Day campaign review: an absolute blast, even if it favours commotion over emotion
VGC reviewed the Gears of War: E-Day campaign: the prequel, set 14 years before the first game, returns to classic cover shooting with new jumps, slides and prone cover. The story around Marcus and Dom is the weakest part, while new characters Lucas Reyes and Mags Carter get most of the development.
- The campaign runs 10–15 hours and is set 14 years before the first Gears of War
- Classic cover shooting and weapons like the Lancer and Longshot return, plus jumps, slides and prone cover
- The Marcus and Dom storyline is underdeveloped, with focus shifted to new characters
- New enemies include the Bilefrog, killed by a grenade in its mouth, and the Flayer with its Gorehook
