Microsoft rolls out Xbox disc-to-digital licensing to all users

Microsoft has expanded its disc-to-digital licensing feature to all Xbox users after an Xbox Insiders test. Inserting an eligible Xbox Series X or Xbox One disc while signed in creates a digital license, letting the game run without the disc; Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles are not supported.

• Feature covers Xbox Series X and Xbox One games, not Xbox 360 or original Xbox
• License is tied to the disc and transfers if the disc is sold or lent
• Xbox Play Anywhere titles can also be installed and played on PC
• Not available on Xbox Series S, which has no disc drive
