Medtronic Wins FDA Clearance for LigaSure RAS Maryland on Hugo Robot

Medtronic announced on September 16, 2026, that the FDA cleared the LigaSure RAS Maryland instrument for the Hugo robotic surgical system. The device seals and cuts vessels and tissue up to 7 mm in diameter in about 2 seconds, limiting thermal spread.

• LigaSure RAS Maryland is the first robotic LigaSure instrument
• Seals vessels up to 7 mm in about 2 seconds
• Works only with Valleylab FT10 energy platform on Hugo system
• Instrument has been used in Europe since 2025 after CE marking
