Viavi: 800G and 1.6T shift raises optical testing demands
The move to 800G and 1.6T optical interconnects in AI data centers is making testing harder at both the physical and system levels, Viavi product marketing director Mike Jack told RCR Wireless News. Signal integrity, multi-vendor interoperability, power consumption and thermal behavior all need validation, with 3.2T on the horizon.
- 800G and 1.6T push signal integrity to its limits and raise noise sensitivity
- Validation must cover devices, optics and architectures across a multi-vendor ecosystem
- Power consumption, thermal behavior and system stability now matter as much as bandwidth
- The industry is already preparing for 3.2T, which will add further complexity
