Fire amoeba Incendiamoeba cascadensis survives at 64 °C

A eukaryotic amoeba, Incendiamoeba cascadensis, was found in a geothermal creek in Lassen Volcanic National Park and can move and feed at temperatures up to 147 °F (64 °C). That beats the previous eukaryote record of 140 °F (60 °C); the NASA-backed study was published in Cell.
