Bank of England boss: society must keep 'right to intervene' in AI
Andrew Bailey said authorities must retain the "right to intervene" in frontier AI development as rogue models threaten financial stability. The Bank's FPC warned AI firms took on $450bn of debt between January and September 2026, exceeding the $333bn of gilts the UK plans to issue all year.
