Driving an EV in Europe Now Costs Half as Much as Diesel, T&E Analysis Shows

New analysis by T&E shows EV drivers in Europe pay less than half of what diesel drivers pay per kilometre. Diesel now costs €32 more per tank than at the start of 2026, with about €16 of that from higher refinery margins. T&E urges the EU to accelerate electrification, tax oil windfall profits and fund targeted support for low-income households instead of blanket fuel duty cuts.
