US-backed 10,000-ton plant to make iron and steel in one step, cutting emissions up to 98%

Texas-based Hertha Metals raised $133.65 million in Series A, including $65 million from the U.S. government, to build the Hertha Chalyx facility producing 10,000 tonnes of high-purity iron and steel. Its single-reactor Flex-HERS process cuts costs by 25% and emissions by 50% on natural gas or up to 98% on hydrogen.
