Scientists Identify Potential New Alzheimer's Marker: Enzyme Meprin-β

Researchers in Spain found elevated levels of the active form of the enzyme meprin-β in brain tissue and cerebrospinal fluid of Alzheimer's patients. The increase appeared at intermediate and advanced Braak stages, and exposing human neurons to beta-amyloid Aβ42 raised meprin-β levels.
